Josué Oliveras – Digital Brand Manager
Did you know that 85% of consumers are searching for online businesses near you, as we speak? This provides an opportunity for you to earn trust and make money in the process. That’s right, money! And now that I have your attention, here are 3 online businesses you can start while having a full time job.
1. Virtual Assistant
When a business needs to outsource work, they have the benefit of hiring a virtual assistant. A what? Let me explain. A virtual assistant is basically a self-employed individual that works remotely (most of the time from home), providing professional services for a fee. You can opt in and establish a business by selling your virtual assistant services online. Be it managing social media accounts, research, answering emails, or any other type of work. You can start today by opening a Twitter or Facebook account, constantly monitoring for keywords and companies posting about virtual assistant jobs. Furthermore, you can boost your chances of getting hired by creating pay per click ads on both social media platforms.
If you are like me, and you enjoy sharing content online, blogging can create good revenue. However, you will need to have a steady following, and ways to bring traffic to your blog. To start, you will need to create and optimize a blog oriented website, and publish content to it. Sites like: WordPress, Blogger & Tumblr, can point you in the right direction. Keep in mind that blogs can be written, spoken (podcasts), or in video format (YouTube). Some people even have photo blogs! Now, to make it your online business, you need to provide value for people. Give them a reason to return to your blog. This, in turn, will create trust with consumers and establish you as an expert in your field. No matter your profession or talent, blogging is an excellent way to start your online business endeavor.
3. E-Commerce Store
Awww yes!! It comes as no surprise that having a virtual shop of whatever product you are selling can earn you profit. E-commerce stores have many advantages; one of them being a lower overhead cost by not having a physical location. Another benefit is that you have the ability to sell to anyone in the world. To set one up, you can use online shopping sites like E-bay or Etsy, or get your own domain, and create a website optimized for online shopping. Squarespace, Wix & WordPress can be a good starting point. In addition, you may need to set up payment methods, delivery options, and have a budget for pay-per-click advertising (Google Adwords, Facebook/Twitter ads), as well as digital marketing costs.
